I felt compelled to write a review about Gateway after hearing from a friend that she was shocked and turned off by moving in based on the Yelp reviews. Now that she has spent time with me and my kids here in the apartment, playing in our private backyard and in the neighborhood, I'm thrilled to say she's moving in next week and couldn't be more excited. The apartment management is awesome. Last month there was water leak in my bathroom so my floor pop up. After receiving my repair request, the manager quickly sent some one to fix it. They are very responsible. I like the apartment.

Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Scenery is beautiful. Especially nice during the summer. Sometimes a bit too cold in winter though.

solid views of the Hudson! the doormen are nice and the private backyard by 400 gateway is a nice amenity. I do wish the rooms were better insulated, though

The good: 1. baby/pet-friendly 2. quiet, nice area 3. lots of green, great landscape 4. electric bills are not as high as anybody else complained in here. 5. AC is relatively quiet. The bad: 1. quite far from the train, 2. hallway has no air ventilation (and low maintenance) as a result it always smells like garbage or dogs in the hallway. 3. They use cheapest stuff+do it the cheapest way. And when they fix something a lot of times they made something else worse or look ugly. And they don't care about cosmetics details ... read more

Gateway isn't as bad as you'd think after reading these reviews, though much of what is posted here is true. I was terrified after reading these reviews, but moved here for 13 months anyway (in a 2 bedroom unit in bldg. 355). I've lived in NYC for 9+ years in different neighborhoods and buildings, and I am very particular about my living space. Gateway is pretty excellent for the reasons you want in a home - location is incredible and not enough wonderful things can be written about BPC, the staff and doorman are helpful and friendly, and the apartments are above decent. You are certainly paying for location so go into that transaction understanding that and utilize it. No rental fees and in the midst of some major building wide renos. I stayed in Gateway for about 3 years and had an amazing experience - 1) leasing process was very fast and I worked with Melaine Lessey a few times when I moved, had friends and family move and even when I moved out to a different area. She went above and beyond to help me throughout the process!! 2) maintenance is very efficient - I got requests served on the same day mostly, and they have an online portal for this and paying rent that makes life easier!
