Management - particularly Andrew Chu - is terrible. They're rude and dismissive. I work in real estate and I'm not sure I've ever encountered worse. However, the two stars are for the neighborhood and the square footage you get. As well as the guys that work the door in my building. They're awesome. If you can get past the misinformation and failure to respond adequately for maintenance issues most of the time - this is a good place to live and great for dog owners.

The apartments are okay unless you need help from management. I'm disappointed in management. My downstairs neighbor smokes out of their window and smoke comes into my apartment, where it's hard to be with windows closed in the summer. This is against the lease terms. I've talked to management, who directed me to security, who was honest and said there's nothing they can really do since they can't smell the smoke from the hallway (they won't even knock on my neighbor's door unless they smell it somehow...). I've talked to ... read more

10% RENT INCREASE PER YEAR. Please be aware. Please pay attention to the reviews here. Management has been asking residents to post positive reviews in order to hide the true nature of how management operates. Management is truly terrible. After 1 year of living here, our rent was raised over 10%. We were shocked at the increase, particularly since Management had informed us at the time of lease signing that we would be locked in at the same rate for 2 years. We contacted Vanessa at the leasing office, and she led us on ... read more

Lived in 395 building for a year. Great location, cooperative leasing office but terrible management company once you try to renew the contract and/or move out. Units were pricey for the real quality (you really understand once you live in...) but after the pandemic they have been a bit more convenient. Great terraces and pool, 2 out 3 doormen were really cooperative but 1 was a lazy nightmare. I did try to proactively propose a lease renewal/negotiate to stay one more year but - despite my patience and my efforts - I had no... read more

The building has nice views, nice nearby parks, and good doormen. Unfortunately our neighbor two doors down smokes heavily every weekend, to the point where the hallway reeks of smoke and we can smell it in our living room every Friday and Saturday night. Management has acknowledged the problem, but apparently people who have been renting in the building for a while are grandfathered in to smoking apartments and neither the neighbor nor management has been willing to do anything to address the discomfort this causes to other... read more

Well, don't need to say much more than what has already been posted here from past tenants... Just look at the LIST of complaints over the past few months. That gives you enough information on deciding if this place is worth your time or not. Number one and BIGGEST issue with Gateway is the "management". Vanessa is HORRIBLE. That is putting it very kindly out of respect to this being a social platform. Very shocked she still has a job to be honest, especially considering the amount of complaints that have been reported direc... read more

Update: I heard your management team is still trying to screw existing tenants even during the current landscape when people are literally flooding out of Manhattan. How hard is it to do some standard finance? You don't even need an MBA for this. Let's do the math: - Current tenant paying 3800/month = $45,600 per year - New tenant discounted to 2900/month = $34,800 per year That means by screwing over an existing tenant by trying to price jack them up 10+%, you're losing a minimum of $10,800. If your "management" team h... read more

Currently a resident and will not recommend Gateway to anyone looking to move in. Deplorable sanitary conditions. Been almost a month on a roof leak in our apartment and nothing has been done by the management. The leak is literally water splashing from the roof in my living room and it's most definitely from someone's bathroom which is all the more disgusting. My furniture, laptop are all damaged due to the careless nature of the management. So, if looking for a safe and healthy environment, defiantly won't recommend this b... read more

COCKROACHES I live in a newly renovated apartment in 395. However, these things are still present despite that the unit is newly renovated. Exterminators came to spray the entire unit several times but I still see the nymphs in my unit. Truly disgusting. (When I signed the lease I specifically asked about infestation problem and they told me that infestation only happened in 355 and 375 before but never in my building; turned out this is a pure lie) SMELLY TRASH ROOM The trash room on my floor is probably never cleaned ... read more
