Read some of the reviews about a roach problem in 355, there is also a roach problem in building 375. We've lived here for about 14 years and NEVER had a bug/roach infestation. A few weeks ago we found roaches in the bug traps in the kitchen and the exterminator sprayed the apartment a week ago and we still see roaches. I was told by the exterminator this is happening because an adjacent apartment was recently sprayed because of roaches so now they are spreading out. I am so disgusted by this experience in a Battery Park... read more
Management and service are consistently helpful and do their best with what I expect are low budgets they get from the greedy owners - LeFrak and two hedge funds. Used to be a friendly community, now more like an Air B and B with all the very high turnover (deliberately so on management's part) and what I think are numerous illegal short-term rentals. The doorman barely know who lives here anymore. Mobs of tourists cut through our private spaces and crowd the neighborhood. We have almost no local shops and services us... read more
Update as of July 7 morning: The apartment complex has a nice pool on the first floor. Tenants must pay for access -- which is fine but some complain about it. There is a 3rd party vendor who manages the pool area. About a week ago, I told one of the employees of that company about a man nearly dying last summer when he sunk to the bottom of the deep end and suggested some safety changes, including having a properly elevated lifeguard chair (it's only a few feet off the ground now) and adding a lifeguard to the other end of ... read more
I have been a tenant in Gateway Plaza for 10 years. The management office has never been great, but it is aboslutely atrocious now. The complex manager is extremely rude. They are only interested in making cosmetic fixes that don't last long, but will not invest in real improvements. My walls are cracked in several locations, and all they offer is a paint job. After 6 months the cracks return. They need to fill in the cracks, but refuse. Another issue is the poor quality of the repairs and upgrades. They remodeld the h... read more
Biggest issue is the smelly and unsanitary conditions caused by inconsiderate tenants walking their dogs both on the property grounds and/or on sidewalks immediately in front of property. There is a constant putrid stench of urine (sometimes in the summer heat it is truly horrendous) and quite often the remains of dog feces smeared from where it was not properly picked up. The management DOES NOT do enough to enact or enforce stronger health safely rules regarding walking dogs.
I wish I had read this Yelp review before I had signed a lease at Gateway. Move on. This is not the place you want to live even if you are a budding Goldman analyst looking to be close to the office. First of all, there are no good comments about the management office. They are the most vile human beings and even worse than brokers. They will not be helpful in any respect, whether that is move-in, lock-out or move-out (in fact that will be the best day of your life, similar to winning a lottery). The quality of management... read more
I lived at Gateway for slightly less than 1 yr. Pros: View: I had an incredible view - one that I will most likely, never have again Space: Apartment is much bigger than similar studios and 1 br's in new developments. Cons: Just about everything else. Heat- My #1 complaint and ultimately the reason why I moved. My apartment was freezing throughout the winter. i had 2 PTAC units in my apartment - but they didn't do anything to keep it warm. The apartment was directly facing the water and not insulated whatsoever - theref... read more
There's potential here, so I wish I could leave a good review; but the maintenance needs *serious* improvement before I could recommend this place. Even our "newly renovated" apartment had so many things broken that we very nearly cancelled our lease less than a month after moving in. Pros: * Good location (assuming you like Battery Park City). * Cheaper than anywhere else in the neighborhood. * Apartments *look* newly renovated (but it's only surface-deep, they're really falling apart) However, the maintenance and man... read more
The management office is inefficient and rude. The doorman are nice. The doorman standalone can probably be rated 4 out of 5.
