This was one of the worst living experiences for me in my 20 years of living in NYC I wholly agree with every previous review. 1) electric bill - I'm used to paying $50-90 (summer) a month for a 1 bedroom. At gateway my build skyrocketed to approx $400 a month. The windows leaked and every time it rained water came in the building 2) a pipe burst in my unit line and the water caused damage to our walls, floor and my clothes. We were out of town and no one bothered to call us. A bunch of my clothes were ruined and they r... read more

BEWARE POTENTIAL RENTERS! I moved to Gateway in November 2011 with rent at $3000 per month, and I was recently informed that my rent would increase by nearly $300 for a one year lease renewal and $400 for a two year lease renewal. Pretty steep price adjustment, if you ask me. Additionally, the gym and pool have both been under construction for over a year and will NOT be included in the rent when the renovations are complete. These amenities are an EXTRA cost, if they ever become available. Moreover, there is a garbage bar... read more

Battery Park area is an amazing place to live, and eventhough I like it a lot as well as the 24/7 doorman from the building, i'll simply not renew my lease again and can't even wait for its end. The management office people are extremelly rude; words like "apologize", or a simple polite action are completely unknown for those people. The electricity measure stoped working and there were no maintainance person available to come over to fix it, my husband called them 3 times and was poorly treated by the person over the phone... read more

I've lived in this building for eight years and I used to love it, but the new management has completely ruined it. First of all if you have a pet DO NOT move here. The management office hates dogs and is now attempting to add a 19 point pet rider to the lease, saying you can only have one pet per apartment, cant walk your dog through the lobby and all kinds of other insulting discriminatory things. My two dogs have never caused any trouble or damaged anything in all the years they have lived there, and myself and other pet ... read more

STAY AWAY! They will do everything they can to either increase your rent or kick you out of your apartment so they can rent it to someone else at a higher price. Doesn't matter if you paid your rent, on time, for years. And no discussion when there's a rent increase. They won't let you talk to a supervisor either or discuss options. There is no such thing as rent negotiation with them. They raise rents "to keep rent price compatible with the region" but won't do the renovation they would usually do before renting. Meaning,... read more

Cons: poor windows insulation, very high heating costs, construction noise, rude management, rent increase every year, dog piss smell on grounds, slow maintenance response. Pros: nice waterfront views if you pay extra for it.

This place is so cold, you will wear your coat inside during the winter time. The heating units are old and poorly insulated. I stayed here despite ridiculous rent rise because my kids go to the school next door. I am counting days 'till they go to middle school and we will move. Management ignores all complains. My heating bill during winter months is $500 per month. I had to buy two heaters myself since the ones in apartment are useless.

This building is turning into one big series of cut corners and never-ending renovations, and yet theyre still raising the rents. I'm kind of anxious to get out of here. I moved in during early 2011 and loved it for a while. They closed the gym during summer of 2011 and then the pool, and told us the gym would be renovated by November 2011. "Great," I thought, "a new gym!" It's now August of 2012 -- the gym is still under renovation. The pool is still an eyesore under renovation. I just heard some office staffer tell a hal... read more

Horrible place to live if you have children. Even though they built a new play room and most of the residents are with children the noise from on going construction is so bad that it is impossible to have any quiet time during the day. Ever since my daughter was born 6 months ago, three apartments were remodeled around me - one on the left, one on the right and one above us. This is not the type of far away noise that is coming from the gym construction downstairs or laundry room on the second floor (which is a separate i... read more
