I wish I could rate it 0 star That is the worse management i've ever seen. They do not care about you, the quality is really really bad. everything is falling apart, the winter is def very very tough, they did and keep on saying they took measures to improve quality and better heat, but all they do is LYING, they ARE LIER. if you talk to them, they will tell you, they did a very strict study and have proof that explains that the heat is heating and keeping you warm. The new heating appliances is the cheapest they probably fo... read more

I've lived in this advertised "luxury" complex since early 2013. I am a MARKET RATE TENANT not rent stablized. I came here from a FEMA hotel, after losing my Long Beach, NY home to hurricane SANDY. My rent for a 1 bedroom was $3,500 and is now $3, 632.25. Do the math, that's $82,000 for a 2 year period of time. Since I moved into Gateway, I HAD ZERO HEAT..... NONE. Two winters and management did what they usually do...lies and band-aids. My first 3 days of my tenancy, I was forced to go back to the FEMA hotel as it... read more

Subject: Outrages electrical charges . We have been excessive overcharged for heating usage. My response to Gateways Plaza memo (Gateway price per kilowatts compare to Con Edison) The electrical increase in usage per apartment has been grossly unfair to all the tenants. The heating/air conditioning units are not energy efficient. In fact if you were to take a 1200 square foot apartment at getaway average $800 a month pro rate that to the cost of a small home you will be paying $10,000 a month. Does this seems righ... read more

I've lived here for a year. And now I'm planning to move. Here's why: ***My January electric bill for my 1 bedroom apartment was nearly $800*** My husband and I both work 70+ hours a week and we turn the heat off when we're not home. We keep the apartment at around 70 degrees when we're here. We sealed the windows in our apartment and there's STILL a draft coming in. It's ridiculous. Everyone else I've talked to in my building is facing the same issue. The building management knew this number was going to be a shock to us,... read more

I honestly dont even know where to begind with this "luxury" apartment building. I have lived in NYC for the past 12 years and have never dealt with half of the crap that I have with the Gateway! Even my 5 floor walk up apartments with no doormen/laundry etc were way better than this dump. Doormen- Ummmm you mean the insanely rude and unhelpful men who stand down stairs? They should probably fire them as they are incredibly useless and use that money to fix the windows in the apartments that let in an insane amount of air ... read more

I lived at Gateway for a year starting in October 2012. I have extremely mixed emotions about the place. Pros: -The units are huge compared to what your money will buy you in other areas -Having laundry in the building was very convenient -Being right along the esplanade was really nice -I never had to turn the heating on ever. This includes the entire winter. -I ran the air conditioning pretty much day and night for the entire summer (probably could've gotten by with the fan, but I wanted to be extra comfortable) and my ... read more

One star for the doormen and the maintenance staff, who are the best part of living here. There's not much to say that hasn't already been said, but I'd like to emphasize a few things: The management staff: YOU ARE THE WORST. It needs to be said. The few times I've had to call I've dreaded it. They rush you off the phone, condescend to you, and seem to hate having to do anything within the bounds of their job description. Believe me young woman who works there, I hate talking to you too, but at least you get paid for it. T... read more

A horrible place to live, unless you enjoy throwing away money and feel like you are a gerbil on a wheel, I have made numerous requests to address the stench of garbage in my $$$$$$ apartment and yes, the management is rude, not accommodating and make you feel like YOU are the problem. Awful experience. I cant wait to move my family away from this place. The system would not allow me to give it less than one star, other wise I would rate a zero. The absolute most stressful and demeaning experience Ive had in NYC in 18 years... read more

I was initially so excited to move here. I love the neighborhood, south facing river views, and having a piece of tranquility while still being in New York. 1. First, your winter electric bill is highway robbery!! I was away for most of January, but still managed to receive a bill that was triple what it usually is. When I called to question it, the lady on the phone was incredibly rude. I could not account for this hostility especially when I took the approach that there must be a problem with the meter. As you make a c... read more
