Management has been on a price-gouging tear in the last several years, inflating rents for the oldest building in the district well over comparable buildings nearby. Public spaces remain embarrassingly shabby. Apartment windows are uninsulated, and the expensive, inefficient climate-control units mysteriously register charges back to the landlord -- not ConEd. (It's small wonder they've not been improved...) Hallway carpets have likely not been replaced since the 1980s, festering in stale, un-airconditioned stasis. The laund... read more

Gateway Management just banned & confiscated all doormats & any decorations on residents' doors. This is the letter all residents received. The items were confiscated last week. Personal Items in Hallway and Entry Door Management wants to remind all of our tenants that it is against Gateway policy to store personal belongings in the hallway or attach decorations to the entry door. The Rules and Regulations of your lease (Owner Rules) (Public Access Ways) states: "(a) Tenants shall not block or leave anything in or on the ... read more

I've been hearing constant extremely loud drilling and hammering from the apartments surrounding mine (Gateway Plaza), for over a year. Its so constant, and has been going on for so long, that the only logical explanation is that someone is operating a business of some kind out of their apartment. Its coming from the "front side" (facing east, away from the river) of the sixth floor of 375, but given how long it's been going on, i wouldn't be shocked if it's happening all over the place, in all the buildings. This has be... read more

DO NOT RENT HERE IS MY OPINION. We have had a very bad experience. Our bike was stolen even though they had it under video surveillance, no one is watching the monitors. OUr apartment has had so many defects. There have been nasty odors that they have not been able to successful resolve. We have had cracks in the walls with huge air drafts. The electricity bill is enormous and with the leaky walls and windows, it is no surprise. Our window was loose..that was scarry. Our front lock did not lock-I had no choice but to ... read more

Quiet and peaceful neighborhood, nice views from window, shitty fitness club, pool small and overpriced. All doormen and are extremly good guys. Elevators - are horrible, some times i'm waiting for 20 mins. Management are rude and unprofessional - very hard to reach person who responsible for something, this year new problem - try to charge me late fee - live here for two years and not had a problem with payments before, i send check at early 20's every month and every time it was on time, for last 5 month it gone bad - eve... read more

I lived in Gateway for 3 years. I was offered a job opportunity out of state and therefore had to leave my apt earlier than anticipated. In breaking your lease you can pay up to as much as 3 months rent and lose your security deposit if you do not find someone to take over your lease. Obviously I decided to go the route of finding someone to take over my lease. I used a broker that the Gateway leasing office recommended to me. The unfortunate part in all of this was that the building had just put up scaffolding around all th... read more

I would be happier with Gateway, but residents have recently been waiting for 10-15 minutes every time they need to use the elevator. Whenever residents complain to management, they respond that it will "eventually" make things better, but there is no timeline for these repairs. Also, after paying my rent for over a year, on time, they recently started charging ridiculous late fees and will not refund the one month's payment in which I was two days late. Upon our move out, we had to wait months for the deposit to be returned... read more

GATEWAY IS THE SLUM OF BATTERY PARK CITY! I've lived at Gateway for approximately 3 years, and this is definitely my last! Here are the pros: The location is excellent with great schools (which is why I stayed), the people who live here are generally very good and kind, and the doormen are nice. BEWARE! The management of the building complex is extremely poor! Basic services like water, laundry, and elevators are routinely shut down for "repairs", but then still don't function despite the supposed work that was done. For i... read more

Right after I signed the lease starting from July 30th, the leasing office told me there is no elevator availability until August 1st. Basically they said it is too bad we signed the lease for July 30th and there is no way we can move in on that day. Bad experience even before moving in.
