I really like the building I live in, love my doormen, love the holiday decorations in our courtyard, but the management staff at gateway really prevent me enjoying where I live. The smoke problem is so severe that I had to switch apartments after a year because my asthma became so acute I started sleeping in my living room. Not only was my room filled with cigarette smoke 24 hours a day (which made my clothes, sheets and even my walls stink) but I could also smell pot almost every day coming from down the hall. Gateway Plaza Apt Complex "could be" a great place to live but it isn't. Between the Management refusal to do "anything" about the "second hand smoke" situation over the past year, ot the Garbage trucks at least 7 times per week, including every Saturday morning at 7AM, and the sexist staff - treated nice if you're a woman, or ignored if a man.

My original review for this was a lot more positive. I have since moved out of Gateway and into another building and have noticed all the differences. First off, the one thing about Gateway that annoyed me more than anything was certain doormen always finding a need to complain to me about their lives and other tenants. I am all for having a friendly relationship with my doormen and have a great relationship with all my doormen in my current building, but I don't need to hear them whine to me while I am just trying to ret... read more

I would give Gateway 5 stars if it wasn't for this one, UNBELIEVABLY irritating thing: The DAMN garbage truck in the morning. When I first moved in, I only seemed to hear it on Tuesday mornings. Now it is every single day ranging from 6-9 AM and last weekend even on Saturday! I live in Building 400 facing the statue of liberty on one of the higher floors. Between the Crack! Bang!
