Lived in Lefrak 30 Years...on the upper 17th floor, 57th Avenue Side.. watched this area change over and over... It looks really nice on the outside, and lobby floors look great now, but that won't help the living issues..These days I can categorize the problems. - REPAIRS : No one has come to repair the place in 5 years or so, old management or new, regardless of you being forced to sign papers and request things like bars on the windows... to this day, no bars on my windows, which I believe is illegal, and no repairs... read more

Somehow randomly came across these Lefrak reviews and i'm amused. I lived here for 15 years before moving to a nicer neighborhood 3 years ago. Many people are lured to Lefrak by the lower rents and the ever increasing number of nearby shopping centers. Yes, they did renovate the lobbies, the apartments are rent stabilized and spacious, and there is a lot of shopping and public transportation in the area. If I could give it 0 stars I would, this place where I grew up my whole life has become a disaster due to new management, not only are they unprofessional with lack of communicating upgrades and progress done to the complex they have terrible security who single out certain people and drive around doing nothing all day. My parents who still live in the area , one of them is handicap and disable and the accessibly to get around has been merely impossible for her. Moving in August!! Do yourself a favor and don't move here. I can tell people a thousand times not to move here but you wont listen. Dont be fooled by the aesthetics on the outside. I am finally moving and I don't care if I can't afford to eat I just have to get out of this place. I have a little water running in my kitchen and I have reported it to all the supers and the managers who I believe are sexing each other because they sure as hell are not doing anything else. This place was a disaster from the get-go. Even though the apartment was empty for 3 weeks prior to my moving in, it was still infested with mice and roaches. Went to the office and the person told me "you didn't rent from me, so not my problem". Come winter.. oh boy, on multiple occasions the apartment was a chilly 59F (State requires min of 68F if colder than 55F outside). Management basically refused to do anything. First off let me start off by saying this lefrak has been home for 20+ yrs n family 30+ the reviews I'm seeing here are mostly true but I beg to differ about the ones claiming ppl that live here r on section 8 or low income housing because the longtime residents are paying close too if not the same high ass rent as newcomers n they r tryna push out the old residents raising their lease every year and was always working n middle class people living here u wanna complain about it being hood n ghetto there r 10x worse places u... read more

PLEASE DONT MOVE HERE. As some of the other comments said. It is impossible to get help from the manager. You're better off fixing things yourself because they will send you through loophole after loophole. You'll wait weeks to get a response. Then there are the pests. I keep a very clean home, I mop, sweep, don't leave dishes or food out, take garbage out every night and ect and I have seen mice and ROACHES in my apt. This review will be filtered via the yelp standards, as this is my fist time using this, but i feel people should know.....The security at the front door is useless. as a female i feel uncomfortable when there is a group of people waiting at the door waiting for people to let them in. especially when it's after 12AM. The security doesn't bat an eye. I just moved in 2 months ago the apartment size is very spacious but they are infested with roaches and Maintance doesn't respond to your calls or messages. They only have a exterminator come one time a week during 12-4 when hard working people have to work they don't make any exceptions they give you the number to the building manager who never returns your call. You spend $1800 a month to deal with infestation it's not worth the money especially when most people in the building are on section 8. The lease says no dogs but ... read more
