We lived on the Horace Harding side of Lefrak for two years. Initially, we were really excited, because at $1450 for a 1BR deluxe (that's with a balcony and a den) in a fabulous area only 20mins to midtown, who could complain? The building was undergoing renovations so it was only going to get better, right? Months after moving in, problems began, the biggest one being the bathroom tub (it would pump out dirty water from the pipes connected to our neighbors' kitchen). It would happen every so often & maintenance would take ... read more
We recently moved out of here after living for only a year. This place is the next big gentrified project. They're kicking out as many ghetto and section 8 people they can to raise the rents and move in the yuppys. What we were sold on is that the area had improved but the first month there the porter's son got murdered in the Panama basement. So it's not safe and the late night security guards are not very attentive. They did upgrade their security before we left so it may be a bit better now. What they do have is big beaut... read more
This building is disgusting and full off mold and led poisoning !!! Don't get fooled from the pictures! U will see once you move in give it a month for the mold to go all over your apartment !
I'll try to limit the length of my review. We lived in the Canada building on 57th Avenue and I can definitely attest there is TOO MUCH going on throughout the avenue!!! We happened to view the apartment during the winter so we were under the impression it was a "quiet" neighborhood. When we moved in there was a police tower on the corner of 97th street and 57th avenue. Apparently someone was killed a week prior. Drug related? More than likely. During the 12 months we've been here I have witnessed numerous incidents (i.e. po... read more
We lived in Lefrak City for 10 months although I signed the lease for a year, and it is the worst place to live. I had no choice but to stay there as i have two big dogs and couldn't find any other apartments. Stairs smells like pee, specially in Sydney building and there is garbage everywhere. Apartment is full of cockroaches and will always have to encounter people who ring the bell on purpose just to ask donation. If you own a car then you will not find a parking on the street and if you want to park inside the building t... read more
I've lived on 98th and 57th for the past 2 years. Pros: The apartments are large and pretty modern. The stove was new and the view is nice. Close to Queens Ctr mall, Rego Park shopping area and Target. Subway is 10 minutes away. The 3 elevators usually run pretty fast. Cons: Do not....I repeat...DO NOT move into any buildings on 57th Avenue!! There are people hanging out in front of the stores ALL the time, no matter what the weather is! As a woman, I don't feel safe walking in front of the stores, I have to w... read more
Lived here for far too long. It is way past time to leave. I don't even know where to begin. 25-30 years ago it was an OK place to be.. there was higher crime then but the buildings themselves were a bit better maintained, guarded and organized. OVERPRICED... BIG TIME Lefrak gets sued? Your rent is raised. Lefrak needs to buy something or fix something they should have fixed years ago? Your rent is raised.. permanently. Lefrak wants to make money and invest in luxury properties in Manhattan or Los Angeles? Yup, your rent ... read more
I have lived here for the past year and I cant wait to move out. The apartment itself is spacious and the price was affordable but constant noise from the long island expressway took a lot of getting used to. I was on the top floor of the building and had to keep my bathroom doors closed due to the sound of running water in the pipes behind the walls which maintenance could do nothing about. Or the waterbugs that crawl out of the pipes at night. Parking is horrible in the area, you are forced to pay them for a parking spot... read more
I am writing this review so the prospective tenant know the exact situation if they are thinking to move in. This review is based for the building complex towards 57th ave. 97th st. Hallway specially the basement is extremely smelly (smells like rotten garbage. Customer care training for the supers is extremely encouraged. Their behavior is rude. Unattending and ignoring attitude of the supers and staff should be checked. Its getting increasingly difficult to get simple household repairs done, due the rude and uncaring sup... read more
