The community of people is what my parents love the most. They also do love their apartment.. nicely updated, spacious. The value is the most difficult to defend, especially when the food is so poor, the activities are rare or uninteresting, and then rent increases randomly (+$[removed]??) even when the kitchen staff is let go (one example).
Front desk help, and all other staff have been helpful. They were flexible with move-in dates and switching rooms at the last minute even though an agreement had already been signed for the first room. We went up to a bigger size. Food in the dining hall has been good. It sounds like they may be under new ownership soon so we'll see what changes come about with that
My mother in law loves it there! She has adjusted well and is very happy with the quality of the meals. The staff are all very attentive to the residents who live there.
They are very attentive and truly care about the residents. They try their best to maintain employees in an industry that struggles to find good help.
They're responsive, friendly, and helpful. Sometimes they feel the constrains of being owned by a corporate entity, in which case staffing shortages or priorities may feel underserved.
When my mom first moved to Lakeview a year ago, she was mostly happy with the community. About a month after she moved in, the property changed ownership, several staff members left, and things changed. I think she sometimes wishes she had chosen a different community, but cannot afford to move at this point. although they offer transportation to appointments and the grocery store, they don't have enough room to accommodate everyone. I looked at several places and this was the absolute best in the area of town we wanted for the money we had to spend. This is my second time looking a place for my mother. I looked for the same level of care in another part of town 2 years ago. At that time I didn't really know what to expect from an independent living facility. Now I do! Wow. This place is a gem and a great value. On top of everything else, the food is several steps up from where she came from.
Overall experience a 4 because my mom did not get a buddy to help her adjust and learn where things were, didn't get invited to join people eating, like we were told she would. We were told no special discounts on rent for signing up, but now they are getting perks like that. Cleanliness-5 always clean or swing something being cleaned. The staff are incredible - very friendly, super helpful and committed to the residents. They go out of their way to help. They could improve on the food by having more of a variety and more options to choose from.
