I moved into Sutton Marquis and absolutely loved the building and the staff. My 1 star review is for management (not the doormen, porters, or maintenance team - they're amazing!). I did not know electric was not included in my rent. To my surprise, I started to get charged for electric. I'm someone that enjoys keeping my apartment cold, so I NEVER turned on my heat. Rent was reasonable before they installed submeters as described in other reviews here. We do not utilize that much energy, keeping a relatively cool 65-67 degrees in the winter months when we are home, and our monthly charge has ranged $360-544.27, orders of magnitude higher than any other apartment complex we have lived in around New York City. You should factor this into your decision before deciding to rent here.

This is my third year living in Sutton Marquis. The last 2 year have been wonderful. Electricity was previously included in rent. Recently, they installed individual electricity meters which has been grossly inflated. The past two months I have been charged close to $400 each month for electricity, even though I live on my own and I am not even in the apartment 3 days every week (when I am working in the office). Had a viewing scheduled here, took time off work and incurred travel expenses. Nobody showed up. Impossible to contact letting agent. Just keep getting routed through to some call center that has no affiliation. Doormen were nice and explained this was a regular occurrence. Horrible people, avoid Marquis. It’s essentially a scam operation as far as I can tell. If you use them and think you have a scheduled viewing with Hazel Lopez, she won’t show.
